The Effects of Loading Waveform and Microstructure on theFatigue Response of Ti-Al-Mo Alloys

Abstract
Fractographic analysis was performed to estimate crack growth period inspecimens of Ti-6AL-2Sn-4Zn-2Mo-0.1Si titanium alloy with two types, á/â, and, á, ofmaterial structures tested under triangular and trapezoidal shape of cyclic loads. It wasshown that facetted pattern relief dominantly forms under trapezoidal vawe form ofcyclic loads for both investigated structures. Special methodology was introduced forquantitative fractographic analysis in the case of locally formed fatigue striationsbetween facetted patterns. Crack growth periods, estimated on the bases of the striationspacing measurements, were used to determine lifetime to failure for tested specimens.Results of performed investigations are brafely discussed and they are compared withexperimental data.
