Abstract

Specific type of critical phenomena in mesodefect ensembles – structuralscalingtransitions - allowed us to link the multiscale evolution of damage, themechanisms of structural relaxation and damage-failure transition related to thedynamics of collective modes in mesodefects ensembles. Different types of collectivemodes are the consequence of qualitative changes of the group properties of evolutionequations governing the mechanisms of structural (plastic) relaxation and damagefailuretransition in the process zone at the crack tip. The dynamics of collective modescan be considered as physical mechanism providing the dynamic crack path and theuniversality of phenomenological laws for fatigue crack path in advanced materials.Experimental and structural study of crack advance supported theoretical resultsconcerning the links of specific criticality of damage kinetics and the variety of scenarioof crack path.
