Abstract

This paper presents a brief outline of the complex relationships that existbetween fatigue performance, mechanical properties, defects and crack paths in FSwelded 5083-H321 alloy. These relationships are governed by frictional power inputwhich affects plastic flow processes in the weld. Residual stresses are governed by heatinput into the weld.
