Abstract

The fatigue crack path has been studied on tensile specimen with holes. The experimental crack path trajectories were compared with those calculatednumerically. To incorporate the influence of constraint on the crack curving, wepredicted the fatigue crack path by using the two-parameter modification of themaximum tensile stress (MTS) criterion. The values of the mixed-mode stress intensityfactors KI, and KII as well as the corresponding T stress were calculated for theobtained curvilinear and reference crack path trajectories. The influence of constrainton the fatigue crack propagation rate under mixed-mode conditions is discussed.
