Abstract


In the present paper a numerical-experimental model able to describe the temperature field in a fatigue loaded is presented. The analysis have been performed on AISI 304 notched specimen subjected to three points bending. The non linear analysis have taken into account both the elasto-plastic behavior and the hardening law of the material, heat generation and transmission. Temperature pattern observed at a given number of cycles is correlated to the energy dissipated in each portion of the continuous due to plasticity and it is function of hysteresis loop geometry and dimension. The position and the maximum temperature value provides useful indications for fatigue life prediction of the component.
