SULLA CARATTERIZZAZIONE DEL COMPORTAMENTO FLESSIONALE POST-PICCO DI CALCESTRUZZI RINFORZATI CON FIBRE DI ACCIAIO

Abstract
Fiber reinforced concrete is being increasingly used in pavements, off-shore platforms, water retaining structures, bridges, etc. The use of fibers should be even more effective in high strength concrete which is characterized by a particularly brittle post-peak behavior.
Unfortunately, the available Standards to evaluate the performance of fiber reinforced concrete do not provide parameters useful for design in terms of post-peak stresses and ductility. In the present work, a critical analysis of the principal Standards proposed worldwide is presented. The main drawbacks concern the determination of the first crack point and the post-cracking stresses that are not evaluated within ranges of practical interest. The evidenced limits of the existing Standards are considered within the Italian Board for Standardization (UNI) that is preparing a new code for Italy.
