This work deals with the fatigue strength evaluation of fillet welded joints in structural steel subjected to
axial load in terms of the local stress field evaluated near the weld toe. This approach has been recently
supported by a physical interpretation and a complete analytic demonstration. Basing on the local
approach, some experimental results taken from literature, obtained on joints with transverse non-load
carrying attachments, have been fitted with a unified scatter band already proposed in the past by
re-analysing thousands of experimental results.
