LA RESISTENZA A FATICA DI RUOTE DENTATE CARBONITRURATE: UN APPROCCIO DI PREVISIONE E RISCONTRI SPERIMENTALI
Last modified: 2008-06-15
Abstract
The ever increasing demand for safety and lightness of power transmission systems makes undeliable the
definition of more accurate design methods with respect to those currently utilized. In this paper a gear
reduction unit for automotive uses is considered: in particular a method for fatigue design of
carbo-nitrided gear teeth was defined. The proposed method considers both the crack initiation and
propagation phases and enables to a quantitative evaluation of these latter: it is thus possible to obtain
an accurate fatigue design and to propose eventual modifications of the original design with the aim to
obtain a lighter unit. Experimental tests on gear teeth were carried out and gave the first evaluation
about the goodness of the calculation method proposed.
