Adhesion strength of adhesive bonded NiTi thin metal sheets

Abstract
The present work is focused on the analysis of adhesive bonded shape memory NiTi thin metal
sheets. To this aim different surface preparation techniques have been employed, i.e. degreasing, grit blasting
and chemical etching, and their influence has been assessed by analyzing the variation of surface roughness and
surface energy. After that, adhesive bonded single lap NiTi/epoxy joints have been prepared and tested and the
mechanism of failure has been monitored in situ by using a CCD camera.
